Diablo 4 event dates govern separate reward windows, so an anniversary promotion ending does not mean the seasonal Tristram encounter has closed. The Standard of Heroes is a trophy-like quest item from that encounter, while Hellfire Torch is the equipment-related reward to evaluate separately. Equipment choices such as Diablo 4 runes do not replace the encounter's entry requirements.
Prioritize encounter access before chasing the trophy
The Standard of Heroes comes from defeating the Echoes of Diablo, Mephisto, and Baal together, not from simply entering Tristram. It is not an equippable weapon or armor piece, and no confirmed additional function establishes it as a cosmetic unlock, damage upgrade, or crafting ingredient.
The access route requires the completed seasonal questline, ten Deckard Cain journals, and one physical copy of each of the three Prime Evil Splinters. Wirt's Lucky Coins are the consumable made from those Splinters and used at the Tristram fountain, so spending ingredients before checking progression can waste preparation time.
Keep the three objectives separate: finish the seasonal story, open Deckard's Memory, then activate the combined encounter. Owning a Standard of Heroes is not a requirement for entering.
Complete the journal route and reserve the correct ingredients
Check all ten journal entries at the Imperial Library before committing your Splinters. Remembering ten pickups is less reliable than confirming the recorded entries.
Finish the seasonal questline, then find and read all ten Deckard Cain journals across Sanctuary.
Return to Deckard Cain at the Imperial Library and speak with him. Look for the dark blue portal named Deckard's Memory, which leads to Tristram.
Collect a Splinter of Terror, a Splinter of Destruction, and a Splinter of Hatred. The endgame farming route uses Prime Evil encounters at Torment 10.
Check your inventory for one physical copy of each ingredient. An unlocked Prime Evil power does not substitute for a spare consumable.
Place the three Splinters into the Horadric Cube and transmute them into Wirt's Lucky Coins.
Carry the coins into Tristram and interact with the fountain. A successful wish opens a red portal labeled with question marks.
Enter that portal and defeat all three Prime Evil Echoes together.
The portal colors confirm which stage you reached: blue means access to the town; red means access to the combined fight. The three named coin ingredients are also separate from the eight socketable Soul Splinters used for jewelry, so do not treat those systems as interchangeable.
For efficient preparation, choose the Prime Evil alignment matching the activities you intend to repeat; only one alignment can be active at once. Reserve the coin ingredients rather than changing alignment merely because another Splinter dropped.
Check the reward without mistaking a trophy for an upgrade
A Standard of Heroes appearing in your inventory confirms the trophy reward, not an extra combat multiplier. Seasonal Reliquary rewards instead use Favor, and other cosmetic collections have their own acquisition paths.
Prepare for three bosses applying pressure together. Keep dependable boss damage, resource recovery, and a defensive skill that remains useful while moving; save movement capacity for escaping overlapping attacks rather than spending every charge to approach.
Before activating the fountain, check armor, resistances, and maximum life. In a group, agree who will interact and confirm that everyone is ready before consuming the entry resource.
Separate promotion deadlines from the encounter's loot limits
The anniversary season and its associated viewing promotion have different schedules. The anniversary marks the franchise's thirty years, not thirty years since the game launched.
Schedule Date Practical meaning
Season of Hell's Legacy rollout September 15, 2026 Seasonal anniversary content began rolling out
Viewing promotion September 15, 2026, 11:00 a.m. PT to September 29, 2026, 10:59 a.m. PT A separate earning window, not the season deadline
Seasonal content status October 20, 2026 Presented as live; no season end date is established here
A repeat clear can award only the Standard of Heroes because the encounter has a separate loot cooldown. The September 22, 2026 update increased that cooldown without specifying its duration, so neither an exact hourly timer nor a daily reset is established.
After a trophy-only clear, record the time and stop opening portals in immediate succession. Changing party leader, restarting the client, or creating another instance is not established as a way to restore reward eligibility.
The same update fixed the fountain consuming coins without opening a portal. If that failure recurs, stop after the first loss and record the fountain state, inventory change, difficulty, platform, and approximate time for an issue report.
Before considering Diablo IV Gold for broader character preparation, return to the Imperial Library and confirm all ten journal entries. Then check your three physical Splinters; after a trophy-only repeat clear, preserve those ingredients instead of immediately funding another attempt. |
